Waitrose has a long history of supporting the communities in which it operates, and the business as a whole is committed to donating at least 1% of its pre-tax profits to charity. Last year a new programme called 'Community Matters' was introduced, which provides each Waitrose branch with a budget of £1,000 per month to split between three local charities or organisations - meaning that since Waitrose Kenilworth opened in July 2008, 36 local good causes have received a total of £12,000 to support their work. Our community involvement is also felt in other ways through sponsorship of a number of local events, sports teams and community projects.
